On this mystical tour of Connemara, we will explore the Bohemian capital of Ireland, Galway City, visit the magical island of Inis Mor, which is the largest of the Aran Islands and delve into the wilds of Clifden, a colourful town that sits on the edge of the wild Atlantic Ocean. In each destination you can take the opportunity to experience exciting adventures from hiking, cycling and kayaking that will leave you in little doubt of why Connemara’s lakes of paradise have captured the hearts of many an explorer as they pass through this wild and beautiful landscape.

DAY 1: DUBLIN TO GALWAY VIA CLONMACNOISE

From Dublin’s fair city, we set our compasses due west, making our way through the lush midlands of Ireland in search of the wild Atlantic coastline and the Bohemian capital of Ireland, Galway City.

On route to the and the Bohemian capital of Ireland, Galway City, we will take a magical stop to Clonmacnoise, a mid-6th century Early Christian site founded by St. Ciarán. Afterwards, we make our way to Galway city, where you can explore and wander its bustling streets, sample its famed culinary delights and traditional music scene.

Included: Travel Pass to Galway City

Accommodation: There is a choice of hostels, B&B’s and hotels in Galway City.

Activity Options: Sea Kayaking, Connemara Day Tour and Aran Island Tour, Mountain Biking, Diving, Sailing.

Freebies:  Explore and experience the vibrant streets, cafes and pubs of Galway City, visit the beautiful Lynch’s Castle, take in the spectacular views of Galway Cathedral or St.Nicholas’s Church,  stop by the Spanish Arches for a perfect photo opportunity,

DAY 2: GALWAY CITY TO CLIFDEN VIA INIS MOR ISLAND

We jump from mainland Ireland to one of its most renowned island, Inis Mór, meaning big island. It is the largest of three islands that make up the Aran Islands.

Once we arrive on its limestone shores, you can explore by foot or by bike this magnificent landscape that has as many as 50 different monuments of Christian, pre Christian and Celtic mythological heritage. The most famous of them are Dún Aonghasa, a breathing fort that was built on a high cliff some 100 metres above sea level and Dún Dúchathair (the Black fort) which enjoys a more solitude setting on the cliffs at Cill Éinne, (Killeany). Some visitors enjoy the solitude of it in contrast with the more busy Dún Aonghasa. The fort consists of a terraced wall surrounding the remains of some early dwelling houses known as Clocháns (stone houses).

DAY 3: CLIFDEN TO GALWAY VIA KYLEMORE ABBEY

This morning, you can explore Clifden, take the opportunity to hike to the top Diamond Hill in Connemara National Park or cycle the beautiful Sky Road.

At 12:30 PM, we depart from Clifden on route to Kylemore Abbey, where you can have a bite to eat or explore its incredible history and unique gardens. Later that afternoon, we continue our journey northwards passing Killary harbour and secluded picturesque lakes before turning east back to the Bohemian atmosphere of Galway.

Included: Connemara National Park

Accommodation: There is a choice of hostels, B&B’s and hotels in Dublin City.

Activity Options: Horse riding, Kylemore Abbey or Sky Road cycling tour.  

Freebies:  Explore coastal setting of Clifden and experience its vibrant music culture and great seafood traditions.

DAY 4: GALWAY TO DUBLIN

The morning is yours to explore Galway City before taking our return journey to Ireland’s capital city, Dublin. You have the time to wander its bustling streets, hang out in some of Galway’s lively cafes, take in the wild Atlantic air on its waterfront or do some last minute souvenir shopping.

We depart at 3 PM, taking the road back east, crossing the River Shannon on route to the fair city of Dublin, where we will say our fond farewells.

We really hope you have had an amazing time exploring some of Ireland’s most unique destinations and remember Ireland is now forever your home away from home.
